Christine Longaker has devoted her life to the care of the dying and
training others to do the same. Author of
Facing Death and Finding Hope
and former director of the Hospice of Santa Cruz County (located in California, USA), she has provided
hospice trainings worldwide for twenty years. She combines her extensive
counselling experience, with many years of Buddhist practice and study
with
Sogyal Rinpoche to reveal how
the
Tibetan Book of Living and Dying
can be integrated appropriately into Western medical settings.
In 1983, under Sogyal Rinpoche's guidance, Christine helped establish
Rigpa Fellowship in the US, and ten
years later, the
Spiritual Care Program--an
international organization for those concerned with end-of-life issues.
She currently serves as the Program's Education Director. Christine is
a compelling speaker and travels widely giving
seminars on the emotional,
practical, and spiritual care for the dying.
